What is it?
Part mountain bike. Part trail run. Very Stowe.
The Summit Challenge is a first-year event created for the people who love moving through the mountains in more than one way. You’ll complete both a mountain bike portion and a trail run portion, with three different course options depending on how spicy you want your day to be.
This is not meant to be some overly serious, clipboard-heavy race where everyone is pretending they didn’t almost blow up on the climb. It’s meant to be challenging, fun, community-centered, and very much in the spirit of Stowe.
Whether you’re showing up to push yourself, try something new, support the trails, or just spend a day outside with other active humans, this one is for you.
IN COLLABORATION WITH STOWE TRAILS PARTNERSHIP
Built with the local trail community in mind.
We’re hosting the Summit Challenge in partnership with Stowe Trails Partnership because this event is about more than just finishing a course. It’s about celebrating the trails, the people who use them, and the community that helps keep them going.
A portion of the event will help support the trail community, and we’re excited to bring together riders, runners, volunteers, local businesses, and outdoor-loving humans for a day that feels very Stowe.

The Details
-
Yes. That’s the challenge. Each participant completes both the mountain bike portion and the trail run portion.
-
Your registration includes entry into the event, fully marked courses, aid stations, and a post-race party with pizza from Piecasso plus alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. You’ll also get a pair of Summit Challenge socks and be part of a really fun community event with other bikers and runners in the area.
-
Yes. There will be aid stations along the course stocked with water, electrolytes, and fuel to keep you moving. Locations will vary slightly depending on which course you choose, but you’ll be well supported throughout.
-
We recommend arriving at least 45–60 minutes before your start time to allow for check-in, getting organized, and a proper warm-up. More details on exact timing will be sent out leading up to the event.
-
No, this is an individual challenge. Each participant completes both the bike and the run.
-
Yes, and we would love your help! This event wouldn’t be possible without volunteers. If you’re interested, please reach out and we’ll get you plugged into a role that fits.
-
You’ll need a mountain bike, helmet, running shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, water, snacks, and whatever else you personally need to make it through a bike-run adventure without becoming a sad little trail goblin.
-
We will be keeping track of times so you can see how you did, but this isn’t meant to be a super competitive, podium-style race. The goal is to challenge yourself, push your limits, and have a great day out on the trails.
-
This is Vermont, so we’re used to a little bit of everything. The event will take place rain or shine, but in the case of severe or unsafe conditions, we may delay, modify the course, or reschedule. Any updates will be communicated as early as possible.
